We could hear the crowd screaming and cheering at the top of our lungs for us. Little words, mostly just screams of excitement. We walked up on stage with our court shoes, which made a loud thud every time it came to contact with the wooden floors of the stage. With great poise and posture, we started to sing our first song.
Our voices trembled a little as we could feel the nervousness that overcame us like a blanket. We took in deep breaths of air to calm ourselves down before we died of anxiousness. Fortunately, our sound collided with one another and became harmonious. The upbeat tempo of the song and joyful dancing allowed us to feel the song better and to exude emotions of joy. Soon, instead of meek voices that were soft and scared, it took off with a bang and we were all bubbling with excitement, to continue singing more songs. The concert continued, with many different songs of different languages, but we sounded melodious and beautiful as one. It felt like a conversation with people as we switched songs. One moment, it was childlike, innocent and youthful, and the other moment, it was strong and determined, to show the message of what we were singing. One of our songs, Butterfly, felt as if musical notes fluttered into the air as the notes danced around on stage.
After singing for 40 minutes, it was finally intermission. The first part of the concert was good, but not amazing yet. We hurried down the steps quickly, our footsteps went tap tap tap was we scurried to get changed for the next segment. We took of our court shoes quick as we ran for our lives frantically to get there in time. We ran so quickly that people were gasping for air while changing to the next attire. Everyone hurriedly changed into their next attire, a classic black shirt and pants, combined with a flashy tie and coloured sneakers, to continue our performance. After five minutes, we finished dressing up and it was time to continue this wonderful performance.
With the change in attire comes the change in attitude. The second performance has a much gusto repertoire and we had to change our character in a snap of a finger. We had to go from sweet young teenagers in our 'Grease the musical' song to wicked witches from Harry Potter. It was a magical performance as our voices combined with each other and formed a great melody. We also had the string ensemble who played with us for one of the songs, and they sounded beautiful. The whole repertoire felt like a Disney movie that came alive, we had a lot of fun doing it too. The dance that was created for the different songs were performed well, and even though some of us did make some mistakes, they were not fatal and was overall a great performance. We sang our hearts out, snapped and pranced on stage, and the audiences cheered, clapped and gave us a great applause overall after the performance.
We had great fun, and I am sure that everyone else had too!
